Axel

  Was born in 2000. We named him Axel after Axel Heiberg, the financier of the expedition, that discoverd Axel Heiberg Island around the year 1900. Part of Axel's bloodlines originated from Axel Heiberg Island in 1961. We have shared many fun times with Axel. When he was younger he played a part in a major eductional program but after a couple years decided he didnt like the spolight as

  much as some of our

  other animals. Today

  Axel has a few well known

  syblings and offspring

  (at other facilities) that are still

  doing educational work. His

  mate is Lexie.
